finding Oska’s secret garden
A very simple scene that explains it all~

I admit I didn’t like Seul in the first episodes with the way she played the easy-to-hate supporting female lead (always rich, never gets the guy but bullies the female lead anyway). But that changed when Seul finally had the chance to say something heartfelt in their Jejudo CF filming (See this post, lower half, for the full dialogue). She had admitted,
You only want to die, but you can’t really die. Because if you died, you can’t see that person anymore, forever.
It was then that I realised, Seul is torturing herself and spreading the pain around because she wanted Oska there. It’s childish, her trying her varied ways of seeking Oska’s attention, but I have been more often than not distracted by Juwon’s much more entertaining versions of seeking attention ^^~
I had wondered why Oska refused to seek Yoon Seul out. Does he feel guilty, since he has always been the one to push the relationship to the rocks? Or is he hurt that she blatantly left him for another guy and now seeks to marry his dearest cousin? With his teary eyes and the super dramatic emo-theme, there were times when I listen with dread and the occasional bitter laugh when he goes into his teary reminiscing.
To the strains (pun intended) of this theme (‘Only Wounds’, by BOIS), their bumpy relationship was revealed-
Oska first neglected her while shooting for stardom > Then golfing their way to a sweet underground relationship > Oska proclaimed her a ‘bbasoonie‘ (crazy young female fan) rather than a girlfriend in front of his career rival Junhyuk > Seul hears it and leaves, giving the impression that she left with Junhyuk, who’s now not only Oska’s career rival but romantic rival > Seul leads a life of drifting alone, nursing hurt, while Oska goes around having empty flings and avoiding Seul.
Her self-destructive moves finally managed to induce some protectiveness from Oska when he chided Juwon for speaking ill of her during their family gathering. Also when he wanted her to stop destroying herself too –
“Seriously, why are you like this? Tell me, what do you want me to do? Tell me what I have to do so that you’ll stop doing this?”
She retaliates by saying,
“Instead of asking that, shouldn’t you find out why I’m doing this first?”
And he does! *huge relief* Episode 14, ‘Here I Am‘, sings Oska. For himself, and for her too. ^^
