Chingu – the movie, the drama, the OST, the gag

This post is mainly about what Hyun Bin said during the Taxi talkshow >> his other OST rendition  >> Jang Dong Gun’s famous Dong Soo scene >> Yoo Sae Yoon’s gag version. ^^;

(2010.02.03) During Taxi part 3 ~

“Yes, the director and writer are very important, but more than that, the script is what matters most to me, I have to like it, that’s why I have many works that were not well-received at all, like 나는 행복합니다 (‘I’m Happy’), 친구 (‘Friend, Our Legend’), 그들이 사는 세상 (‘The World They Live In’).”

“But having the experience of going through these works, I feel that’s how Ju Won (the character) came about.  After acting as Jinheon in <Samsoon>, many offers of acting as similar chaebol characters came in – similar genres like romantic comedies and similar characters – if I had chosen to continue doing that (type of roles), I guess, there won’t be this Ju Won today.”

“Yeah, and I may not even get cast for the role too. Or even be here like this.”

Hyun Bin’s “가질수없는너” (originally sung by 뱅크 Bank) from the Friend, Our Legend OST, which means “That Man” wasn’t the first OST that he sang. Find a list of songs (videos) he sang at nanahyde’s blog.

(2010.01.27) Earlier in Taxi part 2

Being an adaptation of a classic film by Jang Dong Gun, Hyun Bin said that nearly everybody opposed to him doing the drama, because no matter how well he acted, he will always have to be compared to Jang Dong Gun. Hyun Bin then continues to say, “I’m sorry to all these people who opposed, because I didn’t want to miss this opportunity, to do something based on the great movie, with the great director, and the great role made famous by Jang Dong Gun. I said, ‘Ok! I’ll do it!'”

“When acting the role of Dong Soo, I was wondering, if I get criticized, how bad would the criticisms get?”

As a viewer, I was rather shocked when emcee Lee Yeong Ja said joked, “You WERE criticised* pretty badly.” Which Hyun Bin acknowledged.

*politically incorrectly, it’s more like being criticised so badly, almost to the point of being ‘cursed’ ㅡㅡ;

He replied optimistically (?), “Well, it’s better to be criticized earlier than later. To be criticized when I’m at my most ambitious and most high-spirited, I figured there would be more plus points than minus points, thus I became even more fearless as I started this project.”

As a viewer, I kind of doubted Hyun Bin’s reply, it feels like he has prepared for this question and answered in the most defensive way. Though I really respect how he wants to challenge his breadth and depth by re-acting a famous character. Hyun Bin is a really fearless actor, good for him. He finished his defence by saying, “Jang Dong Gun himself was present when I made the decision. He told me, ‘Bin ah, you do it.'”  (.. )’ hmm~

현빈씨 감히… ^^; Is this the type of guts and greed that brought Hyun Bin to where he (rightfully) stands today? (yes, Bin fans, lower your weapons~)

.

..

(I didn’t want to end the post like this, but it’s Yoo Sae Yoon!!)

Yoo Sae Yoon’s version of ‘Chingu’, opposite the original Jun Suk (Yoo Oh Sung)
