I’m not supposed to like this drama…

Resuming life as an aimless random tv-watcher after Secret Garden, I was telling people around me that I now know ads better than shows~ lol (fyi, here’s the CF that I always burst out laughing at, my happy ad)

Probably shouldn’t have mentioned that ad. ^^; A friend, J, felt my current tv-diet isn’t healthy (?!!) and ordered told me to watch Royal Family (no way… ro-yeol-pae-mil-lee..!! *cheh*). And now, watching it properly from episode 1, with a little apology and much gratitude, I dedicate this post to J~ I will not judge a drama by it’s title again~ ^-^;;

“어떻게 생각하냐? 근데 맞는거지? 그래야 사람이지~”

“What do you think? I’m right, aren’t I? That’s how a person should be~”

The teddy bear

Uhm chibsa, the housekeeper

Seo Soon Ae and 'Kim Ma Ri'

The Secret 4 — teddy + housekeeper + crazy mummy + angel who may not be so angelic after all.

Who’ll be most shocked when any or all of their backgrounds are revealed — Ji Hoon? The inhumane inhabitants of Jeong Ga Won? Or maybe us, the viewers. Some have called this a makjang drama… I think, as Ji Hoon has incredulously remarked a couple of times, it’s more ‘psycho’ than makjang… (psycho-makjang-drama?)

In fact, I feel it’s doing a great job being a twisted mystery drama, especially with housekeeper Uhm’s ambiguous moves. Jeon No Min has this very sleek silent way of getting things in order.

I wonder at which point of the drama will he explode in fury or will he just go through his reversal / end with that slight wry smile?

I want more of Chairman Gong (Kim Yeong Ae)…

and of Ji Hoon (Ji Sung) of course – dramatic, sarcastic, whimsical, wee-bit-crazy, …

This image reminds me to check out Ji Sung's earlier dramas... heh~

고-맙-습-니-다~ says cute kid actor, Kim Jin Woo, as little Ji Hoon receives milk from In Sook/Ma Ri nuna

awaiting much from Seo Soon Ae (yay it’s Kim Hye Ok!),

and actually also from Park Min Gyung, the sexy reporter, acted by Lee Chae Yeong.

Not afraid of the chaebols or the commoners, she roams freely in the wild and attacks her prey mercilessly. I appreciate how she digs information from both sides for the viewers’ benefits. *lol* smarter and more useful than Jo Hyun Jin anytime (sorry Cha Ye Ryeon fans ^^; )

Though I wonder what kind of chaebol agasshi she will end up as – at worst she’ll tear the show apart like Mo Nae in Bad Guy, at best she escapes unscathed as the sole (sane?) surviving successor of JK Group  *rofl* (do a Queen Seon Deok before In Sook’s son returns from Harvard? ^^; ) I’m quietly wishing she will be hit with impact of any sort and decide to further her studies overseas… soon.

Who IS she?

I’m very convinced by how Yeom Jung Ah is portraying the ‘angel’ part of her character. I’m wondering if she’ll be portrayed as an angel who is fallible like any other human being; or an angel who wields something more sinister in return to the harshness of mortal life, condensed into the inhumane rules of the ‘royal family’; or something else..?

I pray she won’t end up like Seo Soon Ae, while reciting Alexander Pushkin’s ‘If by life you were deceived’…

Сердце в будущем живет;
Все мгновенно, все пройдет;

1825

(English translation by M.Kneller)

If by life you were deceived,
Don’t be dismal, don’t be wild!
In the day of grief, be mild
Merry days will come, believe.

Heart is living in tomorrow;
Present is dejected here;
In a moment, passes sorrow;
That which passes will be dear.

서러운 날들은 참고 견뎌내어라;

미래를 꿈꾸면서;
