뿌리깊은 나무 2회 Tree With Deep Roots ep 02

How dare you put up such an empty threat in front of me eh? When I say I’ll kill you, do you think I can’t?! Let me grant your wish~

Mu Hyu-u-u-ul!! If I’m ever killed by anyone, you must immediately kill him – he who tried to assassinate the king! Even if that assassin is my father, Mu Hyul – YOU – whether as a meritorious deed, as a noble cause – you must fulfill your duties to the best you can!

“This is the last command from a helpless king like me, Lee Do (King Sejong’s name). You must not falter!”

“Father, do you still remember what you said when you gave Mu Hyul to me? That he ‘easily.. single-handedly.. fought against a hundred warriors… in Joseon.. the No. 1 Sword (-fighter).’ That’s what you said.”

The warrior Mu Hyul! Shall carry out your command! With unerring accuracy!

Will you be able to withstand the consequences?

Behind The Scenes Making

I find it kind of cute how Song Joong Ki describes King Sejong as “the king with the best image in our history”~ (2:03)

The first time I saw this scene, I was in awe of Song Joong Ki (yes, you too, I know..)

But of course, HE~ was Gu Yong Ha~ ^^;

Here are more Deep Rooted Tree Song Joong Ki – Lee Do cuts

And one more on how he finished this long 3 minute scene in one cut, without NGs

Deep Rooted Tree’s last Song Joong Ki interview~ ㅠㅠ

And then I got the torrent and watched it again. I finally realized where that voice came from! The sinister, “geographical”, choky voice of King Taejong, 10 times more chilling than Mishil’s death glare…

… had been the voice of Jeon Woo Chi’s master! It then brought back memories of Kang Dong Won’s entertaining sageuk accent too~ I realized it’s not easy to do that accent, but when characters deliver it well, it gives me the shivers… >…< If Korea is ever going to need a Yoda, Baek Yoon Shik it will be~ lol

The third time I watched-paused-watched it to get the screenshots, I noticed our dearest warrior Mu Hyul showing his intense (yet comical) anguish through his eyes. It’s like a sageuk version of a difficult workday when you are stuck between your boss and the boss’ boss.

Dedicating this post to Jo Jin Woong and all office warriors~ ^-^o
