* I really want to blog Deep Rooted Tree the way I did for Sega and Best Love~ ㅡㅡ;; Its hard, and I blame it on … “sageuk”. There is such a wealth of netizen creations out there, but I really have no idea how to express it as funnily in English.
The humor comes from the pronunciation of Korean, its dialects, and the sageuk expressions based on the Joseon social hierarchy, and lastly mixture from other languages, mainly Chinese (not Mandarin). The characters are defined by their speech styles as well. Think Dodamdaek, Chotak and piggy, and of course Ddolbok. And not forgetting Soyi and her handwriting. And Gaypie’s halting “Mongolian” expressions. *lol* Complicating it are the lead characters who crisscross the usual boundaries — a king who swears and a butcher who grew up with a Confucian burden… When Lee Do is not Sejong, when Garion is not Jung Ki Joon… >.<
