“I’m thankful to the Secret Garden writer, Ha Ji Won, Hyun Bin!” says Taru, original voice behind ‘munja wa shoong’
A cute equivalent of “You have a message”, you have to end the ‘shong‘ part with a lip pout (see Ra Im and Ju Won above *lol*)
Taru, a female vocalist who has collaborated with artistes like Epik High and Hwi Sung, is the voice behind this suddenly most famous (?) message alert in Korea.
According to a spokesman of her agency, she recorded this message alert for LG Mobile while also singing the song for their ‘Bling bling can U Phone’ CF in 2009.
In her twitter on Dec 6, Taru said “I’m extremely thankful to the writer of Secret Garden and staff of LG Electronics”, adding “And extremely grateful to Ha Ji Won, Hyun Bin too.”

ooooh, it’s her. I’ve come across some of her songs, she has a really nice cutesy voice 🙂 thanks for posting this. Also, thanks for your explanation about the Kimsuhanmoo…chant. Japanese has the same story with many versions, some have the same tragic ending like the one you posted. The one I had to learn (we were to perform rakugo – telling the story to an audience, acting the characters) was, the kid’s friend called him to go to school, then each person of his family had to relay the message (to another person) and then to him. when the msg finally reached him (after 3 people), the other kid said, never mind, it’s summer already LOL another version had the kid die in a well
anw, i wont be posting much but i appreciate all the extra info stuff about SG you’ve been posting 🙂 it’ll be enough to tie me over until the weekend 😀 😀

Do you know if there’s an official ringtone for the Munja wa Shong? Because the download you have posted sounds a little different than the ones in the drama. (It plays twice without the end beep. I know it’s a little thing, but I’m ocd lol.)
